Oxford University

It is the oldest English-speaking university in the world, located in the city of Oxford in the (United Kingdom). It is a community formed by 36 faculties very close to the city. The buildings of English architecture of extraordinary beauty create a panorama of high towers, pinnacles. The University of Oxford’s main rival is the University of Cambridge, founded shortly after. Both institutions are known by the nickname of Oxbridge. The university is characterized by its superiority in academic subjects such as theology and humanities.







History
The date of its foundation is not known exactly, but it is known of teaching activities since 1096. In the year 1167 Henry II of England prohibited English students from attending higher education colleges in Paris, then this resulted in Oxford was considered one of the alternatives for higher education and progresses rapidly with the founding of the first student residences, which later became colleges. The university was dissolved in 1209 after the death of two students accused of rape. It reopened in 1214.

Access to the University of Oxford
The access to the university in previous times was only for the affluent social class, at present it admits according to the potential and the desire to learn of the students, being the majority of the community coming from public schools. There are areas that are more demanding in terms of the admission of students, so the administrators of these campuses prepare their exam according to the knowledge they consider the student should have.

Administration
The administrative part is gathered through a legal space known as the congregation, where all the academic staff of the university meet to establish new measures.

All the graduates of the university met through a body known as the convocation, belonging to that subdivision, in former times they met to elect the chancellor of the university, this was so only until 1949.

The university council is formed by members that make up the executive body of the campus. The central administration has at its head a Vice Chancellor to which the academic departments are attached, which do not belong to any particular school and promote the development of the research, provide facilities for teaching and learning, organize conferences, seminars and determine the curricula and guidelines for teaching students.
