Antonio Conte heaped praise on Eden Hazard for his “amazing” performance against Manchester United as Chelsea sealed a 1-0 victory over the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Belgian playmaker was in top form for the west London side despite being heavily marked by Jose Mourinho’s men at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard had a number of chances to score for the Blues but it ended up being Alvaro Morata who broke the deadlock with a brilliant header in the 55th minute in west London.
The 26-year-old Belgian was a threat throughout for Conte’s men against the visitors despite being heavily marked by Manchester United’s players.
And Conte was absolutely delighted by Hazard’s performance for Chelsea against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “I was a player and I know when you have an opponent who is a top player, you try to stop him.
“United tried not the best way, but the normal way to stop an important player like Hazard.
“Hazard played an amazing game. He was always involved with and without the ball, he created a good link with Morata, and with the rest of the team.
“We were always within 35 or 40 metres of each other, and the team was not stretched between the two strikers and the rest of the players.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 18 November.
The west London side are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
Chelsea will aim to try and defend their title this season, although it looks as if catching Manchester City will be a tough ask this season.
