Smart Move for Chelsea as they move in to steal rivals move for €79.5m rated Star player (see full info)

Chelsea could reportedly join the hunt to land Thomas Lemar (€79.5m) with both Arsenal and Liverpool set to renew their interest next month.

Arsenal came agonisingly close to landing Lemar for a club record £90million price in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

However, the deal hinged on Alexis Sanchez joining Manchester City for £60m and neither move went through.

The Reds were also regularly linked with Lemar’s services, and Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev claimed the Merseyside team lodged two bids for his services.

The Frenchman was said to favour a transfer to Anfield over the Emirates. However, he was open to joining either club.

And French outlet L’Equipe suggest both clubs will renew their interest in the 22-year-old next month.

But, the Premier League pair will also face competition from Chelsea, who are believed to have made the connection with Monaco about a possible move for Lemar.

It is suggested Arsene Wenger still regards Lemar as his first-choice target to succeed Sanchez, if he leaves in the January transfer window.

However, Jurgen Klopp remains a massive fan of the Ligue 1 star and wants to bring in a big name as he isn’t sure Liverpool can keep hold of Philippe Coutinho past this campaign.

It is also claimed that Monaco will be more prepared to listen to offers in the New Year.
