Diego Costa registered 120 appearances in all competitions during a four season at Chelsea, netting 58 goals for the club, but the Spaniard has perhaps never been more appreciated by Chelsea fans until he’s no longer at the club.
Alvaro Morata joined Chelsea as the Brazilian-born Spanish striker replacement from Real Madrid even before Costa left the club on a reported £60m deal in summer of 2017.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, Morata has not live up to expectation so far at the Bridge, and despite netting the winner in the Europa League on Thursday night, the Spain international has not been able to convince that he has the strength and power to lead the line in English football.
Morata’s inconsistency led to Chelsea to the signing of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal at the end of January window when Diego Costa left, but even the France international isn’t as clinical enough in front of goal like Costa.
Chelsea then should consider the signing of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic next summer, to finally replace Costa when he left the club to join his former side Atletico Madrid. Although, the Blues have started brilliantly well under new boss Maurizio Sarri and sit third in the Premier League table behind Manchester City and Liverpool, but their success so far has been reliant on the brilliant form of Eden Hazard and a move for a quality and goalscoring striker should be their top priority.
Mitrovic joined Fulham on a £22m deal over the summer, after spending the second half of the last season on loan at Craven Cottage and his 12 Championship goals fired the club to promotion.
So far this season, Mitrovic has certainly continued with this form, with five goals in his first seven Premier League games proving that he has all potential to be a top six striker. Although he is only valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt though, this form will have hiked the asking price up massively for the 24-year-old.
