The Chelsea manager opens up about the future of Eden Hazard and David Luiz at Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window

Antonio Conte has dismissed the transfer speculation surrounding Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and David Luiz ahead of the January transfer window.

According to reports earlier this week, Manchester United are interested in securing a deal to bring the Belgium international in a mega deal from the defending Premier League champions.

Hazard worked under the current Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho for two and a half seasons at Stamford Bridge before the Portuguese coach was sacked in December 2015.

Luiz has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge over the past couple of months following the emergence of impressive Denmark international Andreas Christensen.

Indeed, the former Brazil international has been linked with a January move to Chelsea’s title rivals Arsenal and Manchester United

Speaking to his pre-match media conference ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, Conte addressed the speculation circulating ahead of next month’s transfer window.

“A difficult period is starting,” Conte said after being asked about the rumours concerning Hazard.

“Especially for every player, for every coach. ‘In this period there are a lot of rumours. Some rumours are true, some are wrong. We must be ready to face this situation and I think the best way for me is don’t read.

“There are a lot of rumours now. We must be ready to face these rumours. We must go game-by-game also because we have to play every three days. It’s not right that these rumours disturb us.

“I repeat, in this period there are a lot of rumours. We have to leave these rumours and for sure my players are very clever to be focused on this period to play, go game-by-game and don’t listen to these rumours. A lot of these are not true.”

Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last term after finishing seven points clear of runners-up Tottenham Hotspur.

The west London side signed six players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League
